This stone removes scratches from the medium grit stone very well. Scratches on the soft iron are removed particularly well, and beautiful patterns unique to jigane emerge.
The slurry of this stone is so fine that you might need one more stone between this one and your medium grit stone for faster sharpening.
The sides of the stone have been coated with a cashew resin to prevent water from entering. (If water gets into the stone, that water can freeze and expand in the winter, causing the stone to crack)
There are circular saw marks on the surface, which can be removed by rubbing with a coarse diamond plate such as #400. You can't feel these marks just by touching it on the surface with your hand, but if you move a blade on the surface, you can feel that it is uneven.
