Yes. In a nutshell, they are cost-effective. 

The entrance model Marukatsu is ideal for beginners due to its affordable price and quality. On the other hand, top brands such as Funahiro and Usui are no longer mere 'tools' but 'works of art', and their prices are very much beyond what average people can afford. By contrast, the DIY JJ brand offers a good balance between price and quality, with the pure quality of the tools being comparable to these high-end brands. The quality of the tools is the same, but at less than half the price, making them very good value for money. 

For your information, we consider the Marukatsu brand to be the minimum quality for comfortable woodworking. We do not recommend tools below Marukatsu and we do not carry such tools in our shop.
